Salary: £35,000.00 to £40,000.00 /year

The Role

We have a new and exciting opportunity for an IT Manager based from our offices in Salford. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for the management of the IT service desk team and all customer incidents or logged service requests. You will also manage all third-party provider relationships and assist with the infrastructure administration and technical development projects aligned with organisational priorities, strategies and goals.

The Person

We are looking for an experienced Information Technology manager with strong technology and customer focus. Our IT team is small and the main focus is on managing the service desk team, providing responsive customer support and maintaining efficient and reliable system infrastructure. As the team is small, we need a manager who is as comfortable spending time with the board as they are rolling their sleeves up to support individual customer needs. As many of the teams internal customers are based in the field, some needing significant support to develop their IT skills and therefore a flexible support and some site based visits may be required.

Key accountabilities
  • Providing leadership and motivation to the IT service desk team
  • Day to day management of the service desk team, ensuring adequate cover for taking calls and resolving incidents.
  • Responsible for the management of all customer incidents and service requests, ensuring they are resolved within SLA.
  • Deal with customer escalations and identification / delivery of process or service improvements
  • Ensure that the service desk team have the right level of capability relevant to incident trends and arrange or provide training
  • Identify opportunities / risks and implement improvements to the IT service desk incident / request logging system in order to provide a more effective and efficient service to customers
  • Ensure that the IT service desk team is using appropriate knowledge management tools and practices in order to provide a more effective and efficient service to customers
  • Run service desk team meetings to create an engaging environment that is supportive and develops capability through knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate with all departmental managers and conduct regular service reviews in order to provide a more effective and efficient service to customers
  • Overseeing the administration of Active Directory, Office 365 and other Excalon Applications as well as assisting with Excalon website maintenance and ongoing development.
  • Assisting in systems analysis, system design and implementation of office based and remote data driven applications

Hours of Work

Your core working hours will be 8am to 5pm working within the operational working window of 7am to 5.30 pm however, flexibility will be required to work outside of these hours on a rota basis to meet the needs of the business. Some out of hours and weekend work may be required due to the nature of the business.

Applicants must have the following skills and experience:

Essential Skills
  • Commercial experience in a similar role
  • Practical understanding of Microsoft Hyper-V, Azure and Azure Active Directory components
  • Active Directory administration in an Azure synchronised environment
  • Office 365 administration including Microsoft SharePoint, Teams and Exchange 365
  • Proficient in Windows 10 & MAC OSX fault finding and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrable knowledge with Networking principles including Cisco / Meraki and Virtual appliances
  • Understanding of MS PowerShell commands and scripts
  • Experience of Server, Network, Firewall and Switch administration
  • Knowledge of Remote Monitoring and Management Systems
  • Knowledge of Mobile Workforce Solutions
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics
