Would you like to join a growing outdoor nursery team? We are setting up a group of outdoor nurseries that will allow children of 2-5 year olds to enjoy the wonder of nature.

Little Avanti Outdoors' has 2 nurseries opening in September 2019

The Role

As Nursery Leader, you'll lead a qualified team of Nursery playworkers and Forest educators to create adventures and memories for the children. Your natural passion for child-led learning and experience will help you to follow children's insights in nature's playground.

Your role is to inspire, develop and lead a team of early years' practitioners and help them grow as outdoor educators by spending a large part of your time creating and discovering 'life's stories' in the forest.

You will be supported by a high-class back office team, a nursery manager and be provided with exceptional CPD, mentoring and networking opportunities to enhance and develop your skills. You will be the leader of a community focused on growing 'love's roots' within the hearts of the children.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • A minimum of Early Years Level 3 qualification or QTS
  • 2 years post qualification experience
  • Experience in leading teams
  • Experience in forest schools or outdoor education (desirable)
  • A passion for the outdoors
  • Experience of working and implementing the EYFS statutory framework
  • Experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of children's safeguarding and KCSIE
  • A person with strong inter-personal and organisation skills
  • The ability to quickly adapt and be flexible

The Role

The person appointed will ensure Little Avanti provides its pupils with an outstanding learning provision and will have the opportunity to establish the first stand-alone Nursery provision within the Avanti Group.

Key Responsibilities

As the Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring that nursery life is safe, stimulating and compliant with EYFS, Ofsted and safeguarding requirements.
  • Oversee the day to day management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of the nursery. This includes good long/medium/weekly plans for each age group and effective organisation during the day with clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Leading the staff team to deliver high-quality practice within the nursery. This includes effective supervision, providing day to day guidance, training and support to all staff.
  • To give guidance to staff in providing a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for the children in the setting.
  • To work as part of a team in order to provide a caring, inclusive and safe environment, ensuring good communication and that every person feels valued.
  • Promoting positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues.
  • Office based duties including managing resources, finances, budget control, parent enquiries, marketing, recruitment and retention.
  • To ensure that all staff comply with all nursery policies, procedures, government legislation (EYFS) and that records are kept up to date.
  • Oversee and ensure that all staff in the nursery are working in accordance with safeguarding legislation and that staff remain vigilant at all times.
  • Ensure that all staff implement and work in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and operating procedures.
  • Responsible to grow the nursery in order to bring it to a healthy capacity.
  • Working as additional person on the floor to cover ratios if required.
  • Responsible for the relationship with the parents: answering all their questions, liaising with them on main nursery updates and organising parents' evenings.
  • Acting as nominated person for Ofsted.
  • Keeping yourself and your team up to date on current early childhood thinking/trends and responding to any developments in a proactive way.
  • To ensure complete confidentiality of any information regarding the children, their families or staff.
  • To ensure that all complaints and praise received are recorded and acted on appropriately in line with procedures.
  • Ensure accident and incident forms are monitored on a weekly basis to evaluate any trends and put in appropriate measures accordingly to address.
