Procurement & Finance Officer

The Role
  • This is a new position where the role sits within the financial control team to establish and maintain a comprehensive set processes and accountabilities the company will follow.
  • You will be the main point of contact for all procurement activities across the business ensuring stakeholders understand the process to go out to market
  • Opportunities to identify new suppliers and processes
  • Completely untouched area with a stack of opportunities across a £40-£50m spend
  • Sits in a team of 4

The Responsibilities
  • Reading and understanding contracts and their commercial implications.
  • Challenging supplier quality assurance reviews inclusive of the financial strength of suppliers
  • Reviewing and challenging all aspects of the Procurement process
  • Analysing expenditure patterns
  • Monitor supplier performance against service level agreements
  • Ensuring Finance owned policies and procedures are being adhered to and remain fit for purpose
  • Providing support in setting and monitoring of the Group's Procurement policies
  • Advise and support staff to help drive better procurement practice.
  • Ensure purchases are properly approved within the Group's authorisation limits and that purchases are raised using the Group's Procurement systems.
  • Supporting the balance sheet attestation process
  • Assisting the development, enhancement and documentation of financial controls in the wider business

The Person
  • Working towards either a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply
  • Will be familiar with financial statements including analysis of financial strength
  • Have experience in supplier chain and procurement process including supplier contracts, RFPs and Service Level Agreements.
  • Be able to challenge key stakeholders when appropriate
  • Have relevant market knowledge and best practice disciplines.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
