The school based in the Southampton area are looking recruit learning support assistants due to increased numbers joining them from September 2019 on a full time basis. As the school continues to grow, they are looking for individuals who possess relevant qualifications, skills and experience to support a variety of additional learning needs. The role is an excellent one for a graduate considering a career in teaching, a newly qualified learning support assistant or those who have experience working with young people with special educational needs within a care environment perhaps.

The school is an inclusive one that takes teaching and learning very seriously and expects every member of staff to adhere to this. As a learning support assistant, you will work closely with teaching and non-teaching staff to provide support across a range of different curriculum subjects, sometimes on a 1:1 basis or providing general support. You will be required too:
  • Participate in assessment of your students, planning and continually monitoring their progress
  • Adapt your support method to acknowledge variations in learning styles, maximizing student engagement and attainment
  • Promote positive attitudes, determination and curiosity building confidence and promote independent learning
  • Report back to teaching staff, heads of year, the SENCo and parents regularly to ensure that no child is left behind
  • Create a learning environment that is safe and nurtures students

The SEN department at the school aims to provide staff with excellent tools, training and continuous CPD to ensure that their students are supported in the best way possible. They aim to remove barriers that are often obstacles to reaching students potential. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
