Abcam is searching for an enthusiastic and experienced Product Manager to lead the development, implementation and optimisation of our CRM and customer data.

Summary of Role - Product Manager, Customer Data

The Product Manager for CRM and Customer Data will have overall ownership and accountability for Abcam's Sales, Marketing and Service suite of applications which are used by hundreds of internal staff globally, ensuring these products/platforms meet Abcam's commercial needs as well as create and deliver experiences that delight our internal and external customers. Key to this will be the effective use of the business's customer data.

You will spend a large part of your time understanding and gathering requirements from within the business and working with IT to shepherd new features and improvements from concept to reality. As the primary point of contact for your product suite, you will bridge the gap between diverse roles at Abcam, both technical and non-technical. You're comfortable creating compelling business cases for new features and functionality and are able to effectively influence others whilst ensuring a culture of collaboration.

This role requires management of BAU activities including small change prioritisation such as user experience improvements and maintenance tasks, management of regular upgrade cycles through to identification and delivery of key strategic projects. Someone who is IT savvy and has experience of the Oracle product landscape including Eloqua, Sales and Service clouds with an implementation background is key. Knowledge of business processes and being passionate about our customers is essential.

The role will report to the VP Digital Experience and is a key part of shaping the future of our CX vision and strategy by providing best in class experiences through our technology platforms. You will manage a team of 2.

Primary Accountabilities:
  • Determines and assesses internal and external customer requirements to identify, recommend and prioritize our CRM platform roadmap
  • Oversee the growth in the value of our data and support users of data (e.g. digital users; data scientists; analysts; business users)
  • Act as the "data product owner" - the single point of contact and owner of data as a strategic asset
  • Shape and build consensus around the data product vision, strategy and roadmap
  • Motivate cross-functional teams including customer service, sales, marketing, product and engineering
  • Responsible for the effective communication of all product/platform activities to the wider CX function including our overseas offices
  • Work closely with our Data Technology team in Digital, which provides the infrastructure and technical support

Product Manager, Customer Data - PersonSpecification

You are degree educated with experience (min. 5 years) working in digital and IT environments with third party software platforms/SAAS and data and have a proven track record of delivery. You will be comfortable managing teams in both vertical and matrix structures. Our ideal candidate is confident and able to effectively influence across all levels within the organisation and possess a strong desire to consistently deliver and make improvements.

In addition, we are looking for someone with:
  • An understanding of the data domain, including data governance, data architecture, data modelling, data engineering, data delivery, and the role of data to enable analytics, reporting and business intelligence
  • Delivery experience within a digitally oriented, high velocity, consumer organisation
  • Product management experience, capable of defining the "data as a product" vision, and to execute effectively alongside a team of engineers and analysts
  • Highly attentive to detail, with a structured problem-solving approach
  • Experience writing clear business requirements documentation
  • Experience handling multiple projects and priorities, managing timescales and delivery across a virtual, technical, cross-functional team
  • Robust knowledge of the existing and emergent regulatory and compliance context for data privacy and protection
  • Experience of managing teams
  • Organised, clear-thinker who is able to prioritise
  • Strong communicator, collaborative and able to persuade and influence when needed
