Payroll Manager / £70,000 / Southampton / Permanent

My client, a global law firm, is recruiting a Payroll Manager. You will be working for an outstanding business that is highly supportive of the progress and development of its employees. You will be covering a number of payrolls in the UK and internationally, submitting to their respective national bureaus.

Payroll Manager duties:
  • Managing 1 payroll coordinator
  • Managing the day-to-day relationship and contract management with payroll outsource providers
  • Maintaining close links with HR teams to ensure any further development of the system is factored into the delivery of international payroll and any necessary change projects are delivered appropriately
  • Ensuring timely and accurate feeds of data to outsource providers to meet payroll timetable and respecting SLAs in place
  • Acting as a point of first contact for all UK based employees with payroll queries to act as a filter before issues get escalated to outsourced providers
  • Obtaining the appropriate authorisations prior to release of UK payroll elements
  • Coordinating UK third party payments (eg, HMRC PAYE and NI, Student loans, Pensions, Childcare vouchers, Court Orders) and out-of-cycle payments
  • Liaising with HMRC on RTI and statutory PAYE linked reporting (as well as coordination of info for P11D preparation)
  • Liaising with and monitoring of local international finance teams to ensure local tax reporting and compliance needs are being met and payments being made to third parties
  • Management of certain benefits including Season Ticket Loans
  • Preparing ad-hoc information as needed (maternity calculation, leaver projections, compromise agreements) in support of business operations
  • Completing project work as needed (such as implementing new international outsource arrangements, changing third party suppliers and wider F&A/Payroll projects)
  • A key requirement of the role is to keep in close contact with our international network of offices which at times will require occasional international travel to address any delivery issues and to assist with future project implementations

Payroll Manager requirements:
  • Experience as a Payroll Manager in the duties describe above
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work at a fast pace
  • Up to date end to end payroll knowledge
  • CIPP part of full qualification would be an advantage
