Main Purpose of Role

Ensure the delivery of accurate tax accounting, including all monthly, quarterly and annual submissions in the UK and SAR working with external experts where applicable. Subject matter expert in all group accounting reporting tools and requirements. UK fixed asset accountant.

Key Accountabilities
  • The preparation of all monthly, quarterly and annual tax submissions, including VAT (UK & Agency Model), payroll tax reconciliation, annual corporation tax submissions (UK & SAR);
  • Liaison with group tax accounting teams including TP arrangements;
  • To support in the development and delivery of financial reports to local managers;
  • To provide external reporting to our agency partners and ensure comprehensive analysis is available to backup periodic invoicing;
  • To be active in the involvement of financial control including balance sheet reconciliations and cost/budget control;
  • To support other Financial Controller(s) in the development of risk management processes and procedures as and when required, particularly focusing on financial risks;
  • To share knowledge and train/coach other members of the department/team;
  • All monthly and annual fixed assets accounting requirements, including maintenance of the AX fixed asset register, signing off all additions and disposals, supporting all budgeting and forecasting for capital projects and aligning reporting for local accounts, group accounts, statutory accounts and tax accounts for fixed assets;
  • Local expert in respect of all UBI and LM requirements of group accounting reporting and the use and maintenance of COGNOS for monthly reporting and the structure of forecast and budget reporting;
  • To undertake other reasonable tasks as deemed necessary by the Financial Controller;

    Skills & Knowledge
  • Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines;
  • Analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information with good attention to detail;
  • Abreast of UK financial reporting and tax requirements;
  • Able to investigate all new tax challenges through appropriate channels;
  • Able to develop internal financial policies to ensure compliance with tax accounting requirements are embedded within them;
  • Local expert in fixed asset module of DAX;
  • Familiar with varied international business models and the legal and tax consequences associated with them;
  • IT proficient with intermediate/advanced Excel skills;

    Education & Qualifications
  • Degree level education, alternatively, relevant experience;
  • Fully qualified member of appropriate professional accounting body (ACA / CIMA / ACCA / CTA)
  • Qualified tax accountant or training towards such qualification desirable;
  • Audit background preferable;

  • 3 years minimum experience of day to day tax accounting to include VAT returns, and annual UK corporation tax returns;
  • Experience of working with and utilising at minimal cost external tax consultants;
  • Specific UK tax & VAT knowledge;
  • Experience of Dynamics AX fixed asset module is preferred, but otherwise of other ERP applications asset management tools;

Manufacturing sector experience preferable;

Agency model experience desirable;

Experience of international organisations;

Able to work effectively in a fast-paced finance department and to pick up systems with the ability to take over financial accounts in a short space of time;

Work Pattern & hours
  • The role is based in Milton Keynes but will involve travel to other LUUK locations & infrequent travel to international Lantmännen & Unibake locations
  • Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 0830hrs and 1800hrs
