Colchester Institute is looking for a Senior Sales Ledger Assistant to join the Finance department to support the activities of the Sales ledger and treasury team including bank reconciliations and credit control.

The successful candidate will have:
  • experience of working in a sales ledger team,
  • demonstrable experience of credit control duties, and
  • proven experience of bank and cashbook reconciliations.

You will have a good standard of general education with a minimum of 5 GCSE passes (grade 9-4 or equivalent) including English and Maths and will hold an AAT2 qualification.

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Sales Ledger Assistant

Salary:£21,503 - £23,354 per annum

Location: Colchester

Responsible to:Sales ledger and Treasury Manager

Line management of other staff: No

Hours: 37 hours per week

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

To support the activities of the Sales ledger and treasury team including bank reconciliations and credit control.

MAIN TASKS:

To manage credit control for all ledgers in accordance with FRAP.

To manage and monitor bad debt referrals to debt collecting agencies and solicitors.

To assist with all aspects of the sales ledger, maintaining up to date records, accounting for monies received and issuing invoices and credit notes as required in accordance with FRAP guidelines.

To set up and manage payment plans including the of invoices.

To set up and manage RCP (recurring card payment) plans.

To accurately transfer invoicing and receipt information from the EBS student records system to the finance system.

Issue timely reminder letters and initiate debt collection activities in order to safeguard invoiced amounts.

To deal tactfully and sensitively with queries arising from colleagues, students and external customers.

To ensure bankings are prepared to deadline for collection; tills are correctly reconciled and all receipts and payments accurately analysed and posted daily to the Finance System and Student Records System (EBS) where applicable.

To reconcile the bank account on a weekly basis.

To assist with the administration and payment of cash advances, ensuring monies are available as and when required, complying with FRAP at all times.

To assist with the administration, reconciliation and control of petty cash records.

To assist with the administration of Educational Visits, to include the setting up of visits on the Online Store and setting up new products for sale and providing reports.

To process cash and cheques paid in through the finance till and associated reception duties on a rotational basis.
