Our client a leader within the Motor Claims Legal services arena are seeking a Credit Hire Litigator to join their team.

The role:

To manage a caseload of litigated credit hire claims on behalf of clients from commencement of litigation to trial or earlier settlement. Engage with clients, counsel, third party insurers and solicitors to maximise the outcome of clients' claims.
  • Use a regular programme of telephone and email contacts to engage with clients to assist in the progress of the case
  • With guidance from experienced peers and management, progress own caseload by:
    • Assessing liability and merits / potential risks of each case
    • Agreeing a case strategy to optimise opportunity for a successful settlement/award
    • Collating evidence as to the client's losses
    • Confirming with referrer any hire charges / repair costs requiring inclusion in pre-issue
    • Obtaining and compiling evidence required from the issues raised by the defence
    • Preparing liability evidence, referring any cases in which liability is disputed to management team
    • Negotiating settlements on behalf of the client, with authority from the client
    • Advising client / source of referral of all offers and of merits / weaknesses in the case
    • Assessing and responding to offers of settlement
    • Closing settled files once concluded
    • Forwarding cheques to clients & invoices to third parties for settlement
    • Recording incoming Court dates and directions in Proclaim

The person:
  • Good general education, in particular literacy and numeracy
  • Prior experience in a client-focused, litigation role (e.g. fee-earner, legal executive, paralegal etc.)
  • Can demonstrate a working knowledge of the Pre-Litigation process including:
    • Credit Hire Questionnaires
    • Fundamental arguments
    • Court Deadlines
  • Can demonstrate solid experience of:
    • Delivering an exceptional service to clients in an efficient, prompt and professional manner using a variety of methods
    • Using a range of information to make logical decisions on how to manage own workload
    • Working logically to manage a high volume, multiple-task workload, using own time effectively
    • Communicating effectively in both verbal and written interactions with a range of stakeholders
  • A working knowledge of:
    • Mainstream office packages (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
