My client is a blue chip FMCG and retail brand that serve millions of customers every week from all over the globe. With over 6,000 stores internationally my client are a well known household name that offer a number of exciting opportunities.

Job Summary

My job is to improve the Financial Control of the UK Business and to work cross functionally to ensure the UK financial statements and associated information are complete, accurate and prepared on a timely basis.

In this job, I am accountable for:
Development, maintenance and assessment of controls related to accounting and financial reporting systems, most notably at present, integrating the new IFRS leases standard into business as usual, controlled processes

- Being the control champion for the UK business for IFRS 16 (leases), acting as a consult for other UK functions

- The integrity of property store expense P&L lines and associated balance sheet accounts which includes coordinating with peers in order to provide an concise, overall view of property related costs to key stakeholders

- Ensure period end close activities are performed according to agreed close schedules and that accounting policies are in compliance with local GAAP and stated company norms (TGAP).

- Oversee transactions, understands variances and pro-actively identifies potential problems to streamline and improve productivity and accuracy of the month end processes.

- Ensure process governance including regular reporting and analysis to key stakeholders - communicate with internal stakeholders on a regular basis to discuss operational issues, key metrics.

- Respond to ad hoc requests for analytics, through the agreed demand management framework to provide support to Retained Finance for product profitability, business case preparation and investigation into financial performance.

- Manage the financial accounting and reporting process and lead the preparation of financial accounting analysis and general entries to understand the clients' operations.

- No direct responsibility to manage budgets

- Potential to manage a graduate.

- Coordinate the activities of a temporary contractor who's tasked with defining IFRS 16 processes in the UK

Experience relevant for this job:
- Experience of working with cross-functional teams.

- Track record in driving continuous improvement.

- Financial Accounting & costing experience.

- Process implementation

- An understanding of the new leases standard would be useful
