Drive the way we deliver an exceptional education.

At Varndean College, every student really counts. Located in the green outskirts of Brighton, we deliver academic and vocational courses that give 16-to-19-year olds the skills they need to succeed, and we are the only state-funded college in the area to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

Effective management information is critical to everything we do, so you can expect a very high profile and some stimulating challenges. We will look to you to implement an accurate and efficient student records and data service, whilst supporting our timetabling and curriculum development processes, giving you considerable variety. At the same time, you will ensure we comply with funding, audit and GDPR regulations, create rigorous data verification processes, support user training and oversee the delivery of high-quality reports for decision-making - so we require an exceptional professional.

Educated to degree level, you will bring sound data management experience within a customer-focused environment, backed by good knowledge of further education funding rules, methodologies and performance measures (including Department for Education metrics). Equally, you'll be familiar with software and systems such as ILR, FIS, DSATS and QAR, skilled in designing, coding and testing using SQL Server Reporting Services, and well versed in relational databases and the Microsoft Office suite. Finally, you will bring excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a flexible and positive approach, and the drive and determination to transform the way we manage data.

In return, we offer a minimum of 26 days' holiday (increasing with length of service), local government pension (with a 17.5% employer contribution), health screening, an onsite gymnasium and cafeteria, childcare vouchers, a cycle to work scheme and the possibility of flexible hours - plus extensive scope for career development.

Closing date: 31st August 2019
