This Lead level Systems Engineering vacancy presents an exciting opportunity for an individual to develop into the Design Authority for the Titan system (a stabilised airborne electro-optical multi-sensor system). They will be provided with the appropriate training to eventually take on the leadership for this DA role for equipment fitted to Aircraft/Helicopters. The role would include a large variety of technical activities.

The successful candidate should have experience in all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle and be able to support technical activities on current programmes as well as providing support to develop concepts, requirements, architectures and system designs - taking these forward to implementation, integration, test and evaluation. They would be working on projects associated with both internally funded products as well as products directly deliverable to key customers within short timescales and would be joining a dedicated team with a full and stretching workload.

Key Responsibility Areas
  • Lead the technical aspects of the equipment modification programme to satisfy customer needs.
  • Technical lead for the replacement of sensors fitted to a stabilised platform mounted on Military Helicopters and complete Qualification and Certification programme for updated equipment.
  • Writing Training and Maintenance Manuals and, as is necessary, deliver training to the Customers representatives
  • Ability to represent Leonardo as the technical Lead in discussions / meetings with Customer representatives ? programme, technical, engineering support and user /operator

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • Previous experience working with Electro-Optical Systems, CCTV/thermal imaging/Range Finding.
  • Experience of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, from development and management of requirements (using DOORS) through to acceptance testing.
  • Previous experience working on platform integration systems (e.g. aircraft).
  • Awareness of Functional analysis and Specification development.
  • The ability to work with other Engineering disciplines and external suppliers/customers.
  • Conducting, analysing and reporting of qualification testing to support design certification.

  • Experience working on Bids & Proposals and knowledge of military and international specifications and standards is highly desirable.
  • Experience of Model Driven Engineering approaches (eg Rhapsody, Matlab, Simulink) would also be an advantage.

Intrinsic Factors

Occasional driving/travel may be required within the UK, Europe or even worldwide. This role would generally be office/lab based with use of DSE equipment. Possible use of lasers.
