NRG are delighted to be working with an award winning and innovative auto-motive manufacturer based in the Sunderland region to recruit an experienced Systems Engineer.

This is a permanent position and a fantastic opportunity to be part of an ambitious and growing organisation.

You will be responsible for the following:

· Work in conjunction with production, process, and automation teams to develop the most robust PLC to MES communication interfaces.

· Develop standards/specifications/requirements for manufacturing execution systems (MES) functionality & processes in an effort to minimize the number of MES solutions in place at Sunderland and further enhance the MES for new lines

· Develop training material and hold workshops with users of the MES solution in order to educate them on the solutions capabilities.

· Determine how Engineering Changes (EC) in the MES will be managed and work with APQP on specific part number changeovers and proper execution where necessary. This includes ensuring new product labelling changes and initial product tagging systems.

· Develop custom reports, dashboards, and labelling updates as required.

· Monitor sequenced and/or batch assembly lines and enable rapid decision-making relating to the management of live broadcasts, minimizing scrap and mismatched sequences.

· Engage with leadership on projects, continuous improvements initiatives and daily issues.

· Follow and develop time lines & action plans to aide in successful project completions.

· Participate in open issues meetings with the knowledge to address updates and timing.

· Continuously improve processes utilizing synchronous and lean manufacturing techniques to improve labor efficiencies and quality.

· Assist in investigating customer and plant quality issues and implement corrective action plans to improve.

· Review new technologies, benchmarking them against other divisions, as well as, other manufacturing facilities to determine their relevance.

· Participate in Production meetings and other department meetings to ensure fluid MES communication throughout the division

· Maintain strong plant floor presence, working closely with the manufacturing teams. Take a "hands on" approach to all critical areas of the operation, which includes Bonding, Assembly & Sequencing.

You will have the following:

· Minimum completion of post-secondary education in Computer Science or Information Technology

· Exposure to synchronous manufacturing, Manufacturing Execution systems, PLC solutions, ERP solutions and overall IT infrastructure

· Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment

· Strong working knowledge of SSRS

· Working knowledge of OPC solutions

· Strong report building experience

· Database knowledge, with experience of Oracle and/or PostgreSQL

· Fluent in programming and writing custom queries, reports, custom labeling and displays

· Specific implementation/support experience with a third party MES application - i.e. Solidat, Apriso, InSequence, Nysus, or other

· Knowledgeable background interfacing with PLC and ERP environments

Salary: £42,000 plus fantastic benefits.
