Deputy Nursery Manager

£26,018 to £28,098 per annum inclusive of London Weighting

The Function of the Post

To provide inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending the nursery and to maintain a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment. She/he will be responsible for curriculum planning within the nursery. She/he will manage the provision, including staffing levels in the absence of the Nursery Manager.

Responsible to: Nursery Manager

The post holder will be required to:

* To work under the direction of the nursery manager and deputise for him/her as and when required.

* To support the aims and objectives of the nursery and assist the manager in the organisation of a high quality establishment for children from birth to 5 years.

* To provide high standards of childcare and education - to include the monitoring and review of provision, this includes providing a safe, caring environment to enable the emotional, social and educational development of children, through individual attention and group activities.

* Assist in the leading and implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and any other legal/statutory frameworks.

* Ensure that all children attending the nursery receive rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development,

* To Assist the manager to ensure the provision of a high quality environment, resources and experiences to meet the needs of individual children, having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures, and medical histories.

* To role model good practice to other staff members.

* Ensure that practice and provision in the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Maintaining staff awareness of the statutory requirements of the EYFS to ensure a safe working environment for staff and children.

* To ensure that the welfare and safety of children is paramount within the setting

* To assist with the planning and organisation of staffing schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with Ofsted and nursery procedures.
