The role of Project Buyer is a key role within the company dealing with all procurement. Reporting to the Finance Director, responsibilities include:
  • Control of the procurement function. Responsible for liaison with the project manager and designers and then delivering project procurement within quality requirements, within project budget and within project timetable.
  • Hands on control of material purchases.
  • Responsible, as part of a team, for procuring overhead spend for the group.
  • Negotiation of new supplier agreements to reduce the combined material spend of the group.
  • Rationalisation of supplier base, reducing quantity of suppliers to more manageable levels.
  • System development & improvement, rationalising purchasing procedures throughout the organisation.
  • Responsible for raising purchase orders, sign off of queried purchase invoices, and resolution of any disputes with suppliers.

The ideal person will have:
  • Previous experience in the procurement and purchase of materials.
  • Previous experience within the construction industry would be desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Exceptional communication skills at all levels.
  • A team player with a positive attitude towards work.
  • Proactive with an eye for problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to prioritise work, within competing deadlines and use initiative in a variety of situations.
  • Is accurate and pays attention to detail.
  • Ideally CIPS qualified or working towards
