An Ofsted graded 'GOOD' primary school, with 'OUTSTANDING' behaviour, are looking to appoint an engaging and proactive Teaching Assistant to provide full-time, general support in Early Years Foundation Stage from October half term until December 2019, with the potential of a school contract in 2020 following a successful period of probation.

The primary school in which this role is situated is located in the outer suburbs of Blackburn. The proportion of disadvantaged pupils known to be eligible for support through the pupil premium is well-below average, as is the proportion of children with special educational needs. The school aim to provide a happy and safe learning environment whereby each individual child is able to actively live out each day through the school's deep Christian faith. The Head Teacher, as well as the school's committed team of staff, are welcoming, approachable and are eager to support new members of staff to ensure they feel happy in the work that they do.

The teacher of the class is looking forward to having another pair of hands to support the newcomers of the school and to help provide a happy, friendly setting for the new children. Behaviour of the children who attend the school is said to be impeccable and plays a major role in the harmonious and friendly ethos of the school. Pupils are courteous and polite, showing the utmost respect for each other and the adults around them. They are keen to help visitors and enjoy sharing their happy experiences of school.

Experience in Early Years or Year 1 is essential to the role. Knowledge of the phonics curriculum and strategies for teaching the subject is also essential, as it will be expected that the successful candidate will deliver a daily phonics sessions to a small group of pupils, using the Read, Write inc. phonics programme.

  • To ensure all inside and outdoor learning spaces are reading for learning
  • To deliver a daily phonics session to a small group of pupils

Essential Qualifications and experience:
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant or above
  • EYFS/ Y1
  • Early phonics
