Job Description

Based from our Reigate office and reporting to the IT Director, the IT Project Assistant will initially assist with general support and maintenance of the company's IT systems. Initially the role of IT Project Assistant will involve support and maintenance of IT hardware and software whilst the successful candidate gains knowledge of the company's IT systems and key software packages. With time and experience the role will involve configuration and deployment of bespoke software, providing training to others and eventually Project Management eg. IT upgrade projects and leading on the development of our bespoke software packages.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Assisting with IT Support
  • Install and configure operating systems, on both desktops and servers (physical and virtual)
  • Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software problems and resolve as appropriate
  • Undertake hardware and software upgrades
  • Managing Windows Update installations and patching
  • Creating of new users and configuring required Active Directory settings and permissions/group memberships
  • DNS/DHCP/Remote Access/Hyper-V management/configuration
  • SQL Server (2008 R2- 2017) setup and configuration

Other duties
  • Audit all ICT equipment as required
  • Ensure back-up procedures are being followed and tested
  • Creation and maintenance of operational procedures including installation and troubleshooting guides for software
  • Provide support for Apple iPad/iPhone devices
  • Management of anti-virus/anti-spam
  • Configuration of networking equipment (routers/switches/patch panels/networking ports)
  • Basic IP Phone system management tasks

Potential IT Projects and Role Development
  • Managing the setup, deployment, testing of our bespoke iPad based data collection software used by our surveying team and leading on potential developments and improvements
  • Setup / upgrades / trouble shooting of 3rd party software packages we use
  • Managing IT systems and upgrades
  • Manage company website
  • Proposing new systems/solutions that the candidate feels would benefit the company
  • Responsibility for research and purchasing of all ICT equipment
  • Development of IT and Company policies eg. Disaster Recovery
  • Managing IT Support Assistant

Required Skills
  • The role will suite a highly-motivated graduate aspiring to manage projects from inception to delivery
  • Ideal candidate will have IT based qualifications or alternatively someone with a few years of proven IT/business experience
  • Experience in IT Support - both software and hardware
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating sytems and Office products, including Office 365
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and SQL Server
  • Ability to troubleshoot ie. investigate and resolve issues
  • Good communication, organisational skills and attention to detail all important
  • Understanding of business processes
  • Experience of delivering high level administrative tasks
  • Must be personally interested in all things IT and Tech
