This offers a great opportunity to take all your payroll skills and build towards an in-house payroll team. You will have the control as this is not a bureau position and management of an established team.

  • Direct management of the Payroll Team, identifying and participating in their personal training needs and development.
  • Ensure that the Payroll Team performs day-today functions for accurate delivery of payroll by running reports and check output against business data.
  • Conduct analysis and checking of data provided by business areas.
  • Manage and support monthly and ad-hoc payroll transactions.
  • Investigate and advise on more complex payroll queries.
  • Provide high level advice and support to managers and employees within the business.
  • Provide ongoing development and improvement of payroll policy, practise and documentation.
  • Act as a key partner in the implementation of automated Expenses via Payroll.
  • Act as a key partner in the integration of HR and Payroll systems.
  • Complete payroll processes in accordance with company and legislative requirements.
  • Provide and support pensions analysis and system audits with advice on system and procedures to the People Team; seeking to manage continuous improvement.
  • Support the Finance Team with payroll costing and reconciliations.
  • Complete end of year processes, including P11ds and PSA.


Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills
  • Ability to quickly understand and interpret different systems (iTrent, ADP Freedom etc).
  • Experience of change management and payroll systems transition
  • Ability to work across functions and support diverse business areas with effective communication to staff and managers across all levels of the business
  • Ability to remain confidential in relation to sensitive information
  • Advanced use of Microsoft packages including;
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel; specifically, INDEX MATCHING / VLOOKUP of data as well as knowledge of pivot tables.
  • Word and Outlook.
  • Good understanding of payroll processes and procedures, including current terms of service, income tax and NI calculations, auto-enrolment legislation, salary sacrifice and statutory payments
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with complex payroll function using payroll systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • CIPP Foundation Degree in Payroll Management is desirable but not essential

  • Experience of payrolling expenses and benefits
  • Experience of non-UK payrolls
