Job Introduction

Following a strategic review of our Senior Leadership Team we are excited to introduce a new role here at Skipton Building Society. Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, you will support our corporate objectives across our Information Security and Business Resilience functions. This is a very important and high-profile role, overseeing two of the key focus areas from a customer, industry, regulatory and Board level perspective.

The role will involve the bringing together of a new function so it is critical that you can balance technical understanding with the interpersonal skills required to lead multi-disciplinary teams in respect of culture, structure, process and service.

Main Responsibilities

Interpreting regulatory guidance and industry best practice to implement and manage our Operational Resiliency and disaster recovery frameworks.

Engaging with key business stakeholders to ensure that operational resilience and information security awareness is embraced across the business.

Reporting on operational resilience and cyber risk up to board level

Defining and implementing the cyber roadmap to continually support an appropriate security control environment ensuring the adequate protection of critical data and services. Budget ownership for investment and operational requirements.

Chairing the Operational Resilience group to ensure that operational resilience and disaster recovery governance and processes are fit for purpose.

Maintaining high colleague engagement levels, fostering cross functional collaboration and developing a high-performance continual improvement culture across the teams.

Manging supplier relationships, blending external services and expertise with internal support to provide exceptional services.

Ideal Candidate

The key competencies for this role are:

Strong and influential leadership skills Translation of complex information up to board level Stakeholder management Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure Commercial awareness, balancing risk and reward to define and implement an appropriate control environment Management of risk in a regulated environment

We are looking for someone who can operate at all levels, leading teams through change and ambiguity, communicating complex information up to board level and engaging with stakeholders across the business to ensure the principles of operational resilience and information security are adopted and embraced. Alongside this you'll have the communication and influencing skills required to drive change forward, blending the right mix of internal teams and external expertise along the way.

You'll also have working knowledge of business resilience and information security principles and best practice.
