Materials Manager - ENGINEERING


£38,000 - £43,000

One of my well-established engineering clients is looking for an experienced Material Manager to manage the operations purchasing team.

Working in a small team you will be responsible for the group procurement, buying the best quality equipment, goods and services, at the most competitive prices, to enable the company to operate and make significant savings.

My client is looking for a proven MRP Materials Manager to run all MRP and SAP requirements. You will liaise closely and work collaboratively with all senior management, production and sales teams, reporting directly to the Supply Chain Director.

This position really requires someone who is out and our supply chain, with excellent management of MRP systems and uses SAP in your current role. the role is completely focused around dealing with the Matrix and successful running of the MRP systems within supply chain, supplier management and system performance.

Whoever joins the business, will need to have a proven MRP successful background and hit the ground running.

As a Materials Manager your key accountabilities will include:
  • Forecast MRP levels of demand for services and products
  • Keep a constant check on stock levels using SAP
  • Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities;
  • Develop a purchasing strategy
  • Procurement of materials by MRP, ensuring that all purchases are made to the specified delivery.
  • Follow processes to ensure all components are purchased from approved suppliers
  • Ensure that components are expedited to fulfil production/customer requirements as dictated by the MPS/MRP.
  • Rescheduling or cancelation of existing purchase orders, as required by MRP, to meet changing customer requirements or changes in forecast.
  • You will be managing a team or 3 expeditors
  • Ensure that stock levels are kept at optimum levels by implementing new delivery strategies, whilst providing visibility on future inventory movements through inventory forecasts.
  • Identify and manage critical components and deadlines
  • Ensure buffer stocks with critical suppliers are in place and reviewed quarterly;
  • Identify and manage company liability, reporting to management on a monthly basis

Personal Qualities:
  • 3+ year's management experience with MRP and SAP.
  • Proven track record of delivering value for money results for a wide range of goods and services
  • Effective communication skills along with strong ability to form collaborative working relationships with internal and external customers

Great salary offered £38,000 - £43,000 DEO, excellent company benefits, holidays, on-site parking.
