Senior Compliance Officer

Location: Bedford

Salary: £33,136 - £36,153

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent, Full time

Following the introduction of a new Centre-led Strategic Commissioning & Procurement function within the Local authority, recent Management level appointments have been made and we are now looking for a Senior Compliance Officer to be part of the exciting development of a new team at the forefront of the introduction of a Digital Operating Model. The suitable candidate for this role will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual who will have a broad remit to shape best practice and compliance across all procurement categories.

The role

Commercial, commissioning & procurement compliance across the Council.

Maintaining the Council's corporate contracts register on e-procurement system.

Maintaining commissioning and procurement policies and processes, ensuring compliance with legislation and in accordance with the Councils Contract Procedure Rules.

Devise, collect, analyse and report spend and market data through a variety of media including the Councils Agresso financial management system.

Develop and deliver training to ensure the appropriate staff understands the range of corporate contracts and how to requisition goods and services from them.

Manage internal/external interfaces, act as the focal point for internal and external communication with the team i.e. internet/ intranet, Freedom of Information, waivers, correspondence etc.

Undertake contract management, support the team's contract management function in relation to corporate contracts.


Experience of devising and operating administrative procedures.

Ability to manage detailed processes and handling of data.

Understanding of any legislation changes which could impact on the way in which contracts are developed and monitored.

Ability to be innovative in devising commissioning and procurement solutions.

Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office and e-tendering software packages.

Ability to assess service requirements and carry out effective contract management of commissioned contracts

Effective negotiation skills

Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience within the Public Sector.
