An SME manufacturer require a Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager to professionalise their function. Applicants need E2E procurement experience in a manufacturing or engineering business, and the gravitas to join a senior leadership team.

This is a fantastic, relatively Greenfield opportunity for a procurement professional looking for increased autonomy and the opportunity to really make a mark, within a successful business. After reviewing the current state of the function, the Procurement Manager will be responsible for; shaping strategy, developing a team and implementing supply chain systems, governance, tools and processes.

The Procurement Manager will have "end-to-end" supply chain responsibility, inasmuch as they will manage the distribution team, responsible for picking/packaging and final despatch to customer. The Procurement Manager will have 4 direct reports.

Specific duties of the Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager include:
  • Review, negotiate and manage long term supply agreements with the supply chain
  • Review current supplier base, rationalising and introducing new vendors where appropriate
  • Introduce inventory control processes, utilise MRP/ERP, cycle counts, and introduce systems and governance
  • Develop a procurement strategy and establish supply chain to support future business growth
  • Lead and own all key supplier relationships, and drive improved supply chain performance
  • Introduce tools and process around supplier relationship management and contract management
  • Offer leadership to a Supply Chain function, across procurement, material control and distribution
  • Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, and contribute to broader business strategy

Procurement Manager applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • Experience as a Procurement Manager, Purchasing Manager, Supply Chain Manager or Senior Buyer
  • Experience within a manufacturing or engineering business
  • Knowledge of and experience using MRP/ERP systems
  • The ability to introduce new processes and systems into a procurement and supply chain function
  • Leadership qualities, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
