Experienced embedded systems engineer, designing and developing control systems for hybrid power solutions. The candidate will apply the embedded systems skills to lead the development of control systems for commercial products. The scope of work will range from small hybrid power solutions for residential applications to large industrial grid connected systems. The candidate will be responsible for the delivery of work packages and implementation of embedded software engineering expertise in the electrical and electronic design aspects of hybrid control systems.

Essential Experience

- Experience of using 32-bit microcontrollers (preferably STM or TI) and relevant development environments
- Practical experience of using communication protocols (e.g. UART, CANbus, Modbus, Ethernet etc.)
- Embedded C and/or C++ software development skills
- Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline
- Demonstrable experience of designing real-time embedded control system
- Practical experience of designing graphical user interface applications in Windows and Linux environments

Desirable Experience

- Assistance with preparation of commercial and technical proposals
- Ability to prepare engineering documentation
- Experience in the design and development of hybrid power systems including wiring, routing and connectivity strategies
- Practical experience of CAD would be useful
- Proven experience and competence designing analogue, digital and power electronics systems
- Design experience in multi-layer power, analogue and digital PCBs, thermal management and EMC being vital for both prototyping and volume
- Knowledge of codes of practice and industry standards

- Passionate about technology, enjoy systems design work and be excited to learn new skills and technologies
- Good communication skills (both oral and writing) as the role requires some interaction with both technical and non-technical staff
- Ability to create reusable code where possible
- Dedicated team player
