Citizens Advice County Durham are excited to announce that they are actively seeking to recruit a Chief Officer to lead our successful charity. The purpose of the role is to provide strategic leadership and direction to the organisation, in conjunction with the Board of Trustees, that supports growth and sustainability. The successful post holder will be responsible for creating a positive working culture for all staff and volunteers, ensuring delivery of excellent advice and support to all clients, and developing and maintaining strong working partnerships and professional relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
Purpose of the Chief Officer:
To provide strong leadership of Citizens Advice County Durham to ensure delivery of the charity's vision and action plans, as agreed with the Trustee Board and in line with the aims, values and policies of Citizens Advice nationally.
The post holder will be responsible for providing leadership and direction of the overall activity of CACD, including strategy and development, operations, finance and people management. They will also provide support and clear direction in the management of change that supports organisational growth and sustainability.
Requirements of the Chief Officer:
* Understanding of the Voluntary and Community sector and, in particular, knowledge of the strategic and policy environment that the advice sector operates within.
* Demonstrate understanding of the operations of local and national government and the administration of public services and understanding of commissioning
* Qualified to Degree level or demonstrable experience levels
* Demonstrable track record of financial management and budgetary control and ability to prepare and manage a budget
* Capability of influencing external change and the ability to earn and maintain the trust of those people with whom the organisation deals, including funding bodies and donors
* Demonstrable ability in People Management, including the ability to develop, inspire and motivate staff and volunteers, with an understanding of the issues particular to the voluntary sector
* An understanding of, and commitment to, the Aims and Principles of the Citizens
* Advice service including the service's equality and diversity policies
In accordance with Citizens Advice national policy the successful candidate will be screened by the DBS. However, a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to your being able to take up the job.
