The role

We are looking for an Analytics Manager to join our Data Science team. The successful candidate will make an impact across Tes by leading our team of three talented and enthusiastic analysts in generating insight and supporting decisions.

As manager, a key part of your role will be supporting team members' personal and technical development. To do this you will need hands on experience of data analysis, research and reporting.

Our work is varied, interesting and challenging; you'll be involved projects of all various shapes and sizes, covering various domains (jobs, news, resources) and objectives (product experimentation, strategy, reporting, research, ...). Some examples of projects you might work on are;
  • Quantifying the impact of a product that recommends jobs to users
  • Investigating the drivers behind changes to site traffic (e.g. volume of resources viewed by teachers)
  • Helping a product manager to design an experiment aimed at increasing the conversion rate of an online form
  • Managing three data analysts and building their skills
  • Prioritising and defining work from a range of stakeholders
  • Producing and communicating high-quality analysis of business problems
  • Supporting product development squads with experimentation, measurement and evaluation
  • Improving our self-serve business-intelligence system


What do we want from you?
  • 2+ years of management / leadership experience in analytics
  • Taking a consultative approach to generate clear specifications from loose descriptions
  • Using critical thinking to develop metrics that clearly guide business decisions
  • Clear and succinct written and oral communication
  • Able to summarise and present in-depth investigations to a range of audiences
  • Excellent SQL

Desirable
  • Experience with experimentation or knowledge of lean product development principles
  • Knowledge of statistical testing
  • Python (jupyter, pandas, matplotlib, seaborn, ...)
  • Experience supporting self serve analytics
