Audit Data Analyst - Edinburgh

Salary - £27,000 - £40,000 + Excellent Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data / Audit Professional to join the Internal Audit team of a respected financial services business in Edinburgh on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will join an experienced and growing team and play a pivotal role in progressing data capability and ultimately support the board and executive management to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the business.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Unravelling complex problems and using your understanding of data to identify insights and trends
  • Helping provide independent assurance over the risks faced by the business.
  • Supporting the development of data analytics capabilities with the aim to make this integral to the design and execution of audit plans.
  • Supporting the senior team members, the Data Analytics Lead and the Head of Audit in delivery of the audit plan and to assist with broadening the use of data analytics across the audit lifecycle.
  • Engaging with stakeholders, using your knowledge of data to provide insights and promote improvement in the risk and control environment.
  • Collaborate with other audit partners to support understanding of the data that underpins the business processes.

Key Skills & experience:

The successful candidate will have a real passion for data as well as ideally having experience delivering quality audits and be looking for that next career step.
  • Strong planning, collaboration and organisational skills to achieve high standards
  • Experience working in a fast-moving environment with complex risks and controls, ideally, but necessarily within banking
  • Relevant skills and training on key technologies (e.g. IDEA, SAS and MicroStrategy)
  • A good understanding of controls and an ability to apply this to your work
  • Excellent at communicating and building relationships with internal stakeholders to help you deliver
  • Strong written communication skills and experience of delivering good quality outputs aligned to standard methodology
  • Be innovative, taking an interest in and supporting our partners in embedding audit methodology, helping us deliver against the IIA standards and the Financial Services Code
