A fast-growing company involved in cutting edge technologies has a requirement for a Head of Software Engineering to develop product road maps, R&D prototype development support, and oversee the outsourcing of resources, which may be abroad.

The role will be split between both home and at the UK head office in Milton Keynes

Key duties:

1.Packaging existing prototype software ready for market e.g.:

·Testing, bug fixes, documentation o Gap analysis & lifecycle

·Quality (at appropriate levels), analysis for progression to DO178

·Manage outsourced resources (may be abroad).

2.Research new tools used for both R&D and product development.

3.Business Development.

4.After sales support (e.g. training, customisation, consultancy).

With varying emphasis develop:

a) Autonomy algorithms

b) Enhancement of on-board avionics system functionality (e.g. diagnostics, logging etc).

c) Mission systems.

d) RAPID inspection system.

e) MUVIT live-virtual tooling.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

·You will be tasked with providing hands-on management to a highly technical team developing products for clients. Key to this role will be your leadership skills - managing and delegating within multi-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. You will be driving continuous improvement to achieve critical milestones across ongoing products and new product integration (NPI) and you will actively participate in company Performance Management Scheme.

·Achieving customer satisfaction is key to the success of the business and you will therefore need to be customer focused with problem solving ability.

·You will be responsible for the entire product development life cycle across many projects including resourcing, planning and coordinating project development activities in collaboration with local and remote team managers.

·Create and set the standard for innovation and best practice software standards, gaining the support of all relevant stakeholders.

·Embed and lead the development of a positive safety culture at all levels across the business.

·Support the delivery of wider operating performance by leveraging central technical expertise.

·Lead the development of optimal engagement within the supply chain.

·Contribute to strategic and longer-term decisions and actions of the Company at all levels.

Your package will include a basic salary of £80,000 - £90,000 + bonus and benefits.
