Are you looking to take on a new role where you could really make a difference to student lives? Have you got experience in supporting students with specific learning difficulties and would like a new challenge?

We are looking for people with a background in SpLD who can work with university students to develop their study skills and learning strategies. You will work on a one-to-one basis with a caseload of students to help them manage their challenges and to achieve their academic goals.

We are looking for support workers to help students at universities and HE Colleges in Sunderland. If you are willing to travel then you can also meet students at universities across the North East including in Newcastle, Durham and Teesside.

We are looking for the right individuals to start working with students in September 2019.

You will be expected to:

Provide individual support to students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
Support students in time management, assignment planning, research and comprehension skills, etc.
Set clear aims and objectives with students and support students to meet these
Work closely with Randstad to ensure any concerns are addressed in a timely manner
Act professionally and confidentiality within your role at all timesRequirements

This is a specialist role, so it is essential you hold a professional membership with one of the following:

Professional Association for Teachers and Assessors (PATOSS)
British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
Dyslexia Guild
The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE)Further skills/requirements include:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
Accurate spelling and grammar skills
Punctuality and reliability
Good organisational skills
