This is a superb new opportunity for an experienced PhD qualified Physicist with around 3-5 years post-graduate experience to play a key role developing new technologies and products with a highly regarded Technology Development Consultancy. The Physicist will join a multidisciplined team based at the company's stunning R&D centre just outside of Cambridge. Here you will be developing a wide range of challenging and innovative NPD projects incorporating technologies such as advanced sensors, acoustics, electronics, optics and highly complex electro-mechanics. Make no mistake -this may be called 'consultancy' but it is serious, hands-on science that is breaking technology boundaries in the areas such as medical devices, life sciences, consumer technology products, scientific instrumentation, industrial machines & processes. The Physicist will:

Apply hands-on Science to analyse & develop viable solutions to challenging real-world technical problems
Identify and research new 'blue-sky' technologies for possible commercial exploitation
Design experimental apparatus and conduct proof-of-principle experiments
Develop and build product prototypes involving elements of electronics, optics, mechanics, materials etc
Present results and findings to clients.

Requirements -Applied Physicist:

A Masters (MPhys/MSci ) 2.1 or above and /or a Doctorate PhD, EngD, DPhil in Physics or closely related discipline.
Around 3-5 years industrial, commercial or post-doctoral experience in areas such as sensors, actuators, vision systems, control algorithms, acoustics, robotics or complex electro-mechanical systems
Broad knowledge of Physics from first principals coupled with strong mathematical abilities
Intuitive understanding of how physics effects real world processes and products
A "hands on" highly practical approach to experimental physics and instrumentation
Ability to analyse a wide range of data, structure thoughts, draw robust conclusions and communicate them in a clear concise way.
