Job Description

Based from our Reigate office and reporting to the IT Director, the IT Assistant will provide IT support to all directors, staff and remote workers. The IT Assistant will assist with the maintenance of the network and associated PCs, laptops, servers and peripherals.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Setup and maintenance of user PCs/laptops
  • Install and configure operating systems to agreed standards
  • Diagnose and resolve Microsoft Windows operating system problems and to communicate their resolution to users
  • Undertake basic PC housekeeping
  • Undertake hardware and software upgrades
  • Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software problems and resolve as appropriate

Configuration and maintenance of company servers, both physical and virtual
  • Undertake hardware and software upgrades
  • Diagnose and resolve Microsoft Windows operating system problems
  • Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software problems and resolve as appropriate
  • Managing Windows Update installations and patching
  • Creating of new users and configuring required Active Directory settings and permissions/group memberships
  • DNS/DHCP/Remote Access/Hyper-V management/configuration
  • SQL Server (2008 R2- 2017) setup and configuration

Other duties
  • Audit all ICT equipment as required
  • Follow appropriate back-up procedures
  • Creation and maintenance of operational procedures including installation and troubleshooting guides for software
  • To provide support for the Microsoft Office range of products: in person, over the telephone or via remote access.
  • Provide support for Apple iPad/iPhone devices
  • Management of anti-virus/anti-spam
  • Configuration of networking equipment (routers/switches/patch panels/networking ports)
  • Basic IP Phone system management tasks

Required Skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating sytems and Office products
  • General knowledge and experience of desktops/hardware
  • Preferably knowledge of Active Directory and SQL Server
  • Ability to troubleshoot ie. investigate and resolve issues
  • Good communication, organisational skills and attention to detail all important
  • No minimum qualifications other than a providing a well written CV and covering letter
  • Must be personally interested in all things IT and Tech
