You will have a proven track record of providing high quality service and technical support to a variety of users in a high pressure environment. You will also be responsible for supporting all aspects of the IT estate and its users reporting to the IT Manager.

The purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is to provide technical support and training to all aspects of the business in order to ensure that services are maintained effectively and efficiently in support of the business plan.

The role:

The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for providing 2nd line support to the IT and telecoms infrastructure, applications, and information systems. You will assist the IT Manager and Senior IT Engineers in the provision of support and be the face of IT support within the business.

The IT Team provides 2nd/3rd line support with the 1st line being provided by the Bristol-based Service Desk.

As well as providing 2nd line support, the IT Engineer role will also provide assistance and guidance to the Service Desk.

This position will be based at either Barnstaple or Beckington and will require occasional weekend working with periodic travel to other sites as required.

Areas of responsibility to include:

* Administration and troubleshooting of staff-facing IT services

* Microsoft Windows 7 (migrating to Windows 10 in 2019)

* Microsoft Office (including Outlook)

* Microsoft SharePoint 2016

* Microsoft Skype for Business

* Hardware maintenance (including understanding of BIOS)

* Maintenance of the IT estate and associated tools

* Windows Active Directory

* Microsoft Exchange 2010 onwards

* Microsoft SharePoint 2016

* Microsoft SCCM 2012

* Engineering applications

* Operational monitoring of the IT estate

* Following existing and developing new IT processes

Preferred Experience/Skills:

* Proven track record of delivering effective 2nd line user support

* Remote Support

* Knowledge of ITIL processes

* Excellent communication skills

* Excellent time management skills

* Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and software including in-depth understanding of Active Directory

* Good understanding of Dell hardware

Desirable Technical Skills

* WebMarshal Proxy and logging

* Symantec MessageLabs

* Intrusion detection and prevention

* Network traffic monitoring

* Nessus Scanner

* Microsoft WDS/WSUS/SCCM

* SharePoint 2016 Administration

* Skype for Business Administration

* UK MOD Security Policy Framework

Required Qualifications:

ITIL v3 Foundation

MCSA or equivalent experience
