Our client is a leading Crime and Regulatory set based in Grayys Inn. Chambers are currently seeking a Junior Clerk to support the clerking teams in providing an efficient and professional service to members of chambers and clients.

Title Junior Clerk (Entry-level)

Reporting to Senior Clerk

Core Duties

* Assisting with post including DX delivery and collection

* Running errands for members, clerks and staff

* Making deliveries to courts (mainly local)

* Photocopying/bundling

* Setting up video conferences and/or Skype conferences when required

* Banking cheques

* Delivering papers, stationery and other items within Chambers

* Retrieving briefs for return to solicitors on case completion

* Assisting with room clearouts (boxing and labelling papers for return to solicitors, filling and moving secure shredding bags
Assisting junior clerks with entering of briefs on the computer system and dealing with the daily court lists

* Answering the telephone, transferring calls and/or relaying accurate messages

* Keeping copiers and printers stocked up with paper

* Changing lightbulbs (to be checked daily in the basement conference area and waiting room and weekly in all other areas).

* Tidying common areas, removing confidential papers, returning law books to the library shelves

* Ad hoc IT assistance

Secondary Duties (at particularly busy times and/or in the absence of relevant staff)

* Making tea and coffee for conferences and clearing rooms when conferences end (in the absence of the Receptionist and/or Catering Assistant)

* Arranging and collecting sandwich lunches for conferences

* Booking courier deliveries

* Booking laundry collections

* Checking/changing lightbulbs in other areas

Skills Required

* Reliability

* Ability to prioritise tasks

* Willingness to run errands in all weathers

* Ability to cope with an active role, running errands around town, sometimes with several boxes of papers

* Ability to carry heavy boxes up and down stairs (manual handling training will be provided)

* Ability to communicate well with people at all levels of seniority and from all walks of life

* Clear and helpful telephone manner

* Knowledge of IT

* Sense of responsibility; desire to do a job professionally no matter how small
