PURCHASING MANAGER
Salary £40,000
Location: Scunthorpe

OVERVIEW:

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Manager with very strong MRP experience to join an existing team and drive process, procedure, and cost saving improvements in a fast moving and growing environment. THE ROLE:

*Develop and manage the purchasing department including setting tangible KPI targets and monitoring team and individual performance.
*Develop and deliver a coherent purchasing strategy group-wide to deliver the target benefits and financial cost savings identified
*Engage support and agreement for the strategy from key stakeholders so that implementation and compliance are optimal.
*Communicate formally via clear regular and effective reporting with all key stakeholders to ensure that price changes and supply risks are known
*Establish new processes, procedures and effective systems for efficient and cost-effective purchasing, including investigating opportunities for broader savings in inventory and warehousing costs by conducting in-house vs outsource.
*To drive the continuous improvement via MRP and ERP process management and development the Company wide purchase ordering process to ensure that business needs are met whilst costs are monitored, reviewed and controlled in line with company finance procedures.
*Prepare specific monthly KPI metrics and reporting to the business to include clear commentary and identification of risks and opportunities on an ongoing basis
*To ensure payment terms are managed and optimised resulting in improved cash flow.
*To lead supplier negotiations, recommend supplier selection and implement contracts designed to encourage continual improvement across the supply chain
*Minimise supply risk of any material and ensure that contingency options exist wherever possible at all times
*Ensure effective Supplier performance monitoring processes are in place related to spend categories, quality of supply and lead time performance and drive continuous improvement tangibly with all key suppliers to the business

THE CANDIDATE:

*Ideally educated to degree standard
*CIPS qualified
*Strong proven background in purchasing & supply chain management, ideally within a fast paced manufacturing environment
*Very strong hands on MRP experience is essential
*Excellent Excel skills
*Strong people management skills with a drive to deliver continuous improvement and lead by example
