Description of Role:

The role holder will become a Technical Operations Specialist within the VME Operations team and must have experience of providing functions such as console management, workload monitoring and incident management. Knowledge or Practical experience of VME SCL, VME 3rd Party products such as Helmsman and previous VME knowledge or practical experience in an IT or Networking field will be preferable but not essential.

This role will be based in Belfast, Northern Ireland with opportunity to travel.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

- Monitoring of multi-platform VME client systems

- VME System Operating

- Problem diagnosis and resolution

- Basic design, build and testing activities

- Hands on troubleshooting and fixing

- The proactive detection of minor problems or trends ensuring that corrective action is taken to prevent any business impact on our clients

- Being client facing and providing support to Customers and their systems

- Engagement with VME Technical and Application support teams

- Interface with and manage other support and resolver groups

- Assist with staff training and identification of training requirements

- Deputise for the Operations Shift Leader as and when required

Profile

The Successful Candidate:

- Effectively monitor multi-platform VME client systems

- Become fully proficient in all aspects of VME Operating for the Client workloads

- Perform workload scheduling (using Helmsman, JOBMAN, QOS or other toolsets)

- Carrying out first line diagnostics of any reported problems

- Escalating issues as per the agreed SLA's (Service Level Agreements)

- The proactive detection of minor problems or trends ensuring that corrective action is taken to prevent any business impact on our clients

- The logging and management of all detected and reported problems from initial identification through to resolution

- Use the basic elements of the SCL language to write simple job control programs

- To participate in the maintenance of departmental documentation (both internal and customer documentation)

- To learn and fully adhere to departmental processes and procedures

- Assist the Operations Shift Leader with the Management of an Operational Team

- Assist the Operations Shift Leader with the successful implementation of new and existing VME workloads
