Maintenance Engineer

Location: Inverness

Initial contract length: 6 months

Working hours: 37/ week

Rate: Up to £25.50/ hr. Ltd

Our client who is one of Scotland's largest medical manufacturing facilities, is looking to increase their team with an experienced Maintenance Engineer to provide engineering support for all manufacturing and production equipment associated with their manufacturing process

Key Responsibilities as the Maintenance Engineer:

Performing of all Planned and Unplanned Maintenance for all Equipment used in the Manufacturing Process:

· Preventative maintenance plan

· Liaising with manufacturing planning to allow equipment engineering functions to take place

· Electrical and mechanical trouble shooting

Providing Support to the Engineering Team on Issues Over and Above Equipment Maintenance:

· Update documentation to support equipment modifications

· Liaising with process engineers and development to optimise equipment efficiency, productivity and quality

· Maintaining and developing of engineering infrastructure with LFSS

Engineering Improvement Projects:

· Support engineering improvement projects

· Meet timescales

· Meet budgets

Train Colleagues:

· Assist in development of team skills matrix by coaching colleagues

Design of Small Equipment/Brackets etc. to Support all Areas of Engineering:

· Sub contract if/when necessary

· Perform tasks on site

Skills and Competencies required as the Maintenance Engineer

· Apprenticeship served with ONC/HNC in Engineering or HND or a relevant engineering discipline

· Good foundation in both electrical and mechanical engineering with elements of control systems

· Knowledge of PLC/microprocessor or computer controlled production equipment

· Experience in using PLC software as a trouble-shooting tool

· Pneumatic control systems and mechanical engineering

· Ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic schematics

· Practical hands on person

· Experience with high and low voltage supplies

· Previous experience in performing planned and unplanned maintenance

· Demonstration of sound methodology in fault finding techniques

· Involved in machine commissioning

· Training experience

· Machine shop skills turning, milling, fitting etc.

· Previous experience in a production /manufacturing environment


· Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team in a pressure situation

· A reactive/flexible approach to machine maintenance and breakdowns

· Good communication and reporting skills both verbal and written to allow work to be carried out over a shift change and beyond

· Demonstrate a high quality of work and attention to detail

· Persistence to attain resolution to problems

· Results orientated, attention to detail
