Our client are a leading global provider of fabrication and engineering services and are recognised for delivering a complete end to end service - with the ability to operate at scale - and to clients across the world. Meeting the highest industry standards, they deliver services to a range of industrial markets.

With almost 115 years' experience in the industry, the company comprises a team of over 100 highly skilled industry experts, including world class platers, welders, fitters, machinists and engineers.

Having worked on major global projects they have built a reputation for working in partnership with our clients to attain the highest levels of certification, whilst ensuring optimum health and safety standards are met from start to finish of every project, no matter how big or small.

Due to an increase in their order book, they are currently looking to recruit an experienced project manager to join the team on a permanent basis.

Key Duties

Drive to ensure zero harm behavior and zero LTI's.

Direct and manage all aspects of multi-discipline projects from inception (Quotation) through completion (invoicing and after market).

Utilise the organisational structure for a multi-disciplined team from nominated resources and recruitment as necessary.

From Sales Handover, define and control base line scope, programmes and allowances together with the procedures for management of project change

Regular review and approval of route card system including authorising amendments to route as necessary

Preparation of the Project Execution Plan and Manufacturing Strategy for the execution of all project activities in accordance with the Company Business Operating Procedures and specific Client/contract requirements

Define the policies and processes for clear communications to all parties involved in the project (e.g. weekly meetings, tool box talks).

Manage the preparation and regular update of the project programme against which project deliverables are monitored and controlled

Initiate and review engineering design, procurement and purchasing, manufacturing/production, project operations and site activity to ensure compliance with project specifications, programme requirements and Company legal obligations

Optimise completion of deliverables, equipment and services for most cost effective project completion

Review Project Financial status and manage change control, taking action to mitigate liability for overrun, variations or third party claims

Authorisation and release of client billing.

Provision of support to ensure the timely payment of due invoices in line with cash flow management strategy.

Report progress in compliance with the Project Execution Plan mandates

Delivery of any and all sub-contracted services for example: machining, painting, design, inspection etc. to clients as requested.

Develop customer relationship ensuring regular communication and effective project updates.

Assist and support the Sales, Marketing and Proposals initiatives as directed from time to time on potential new work opportunities.

Actively support, as a Project Management group, the needs of all projects.

Actively assist and support company improvement.

Key Accountabilities

Drive to establish zero harm and zero LTI's on all areas of project responsibility

Ensure compliance with the Company's Quality, Health Safety and Environmental Policy and Business Operating Procedures recognising specific Customer driven requirements as defined in the Project Execution Plan

Deliver and close out on time, first time to specification and quality

Deliver Customer satisfaction

Point of contact and liaison/communication between Company and Client

Project Budget management and authority for approval of project expenditure

Deliver maximum potential profit/return of the Company's financial targets set for the project

Ensure you have all the available and qualified resources for site whilst being cognisant of resources at head office.

Communicate to ensure complete awareness of all team and contractor members of interface roles and responsibilities to achieve global project objectives.

Identify, review and manage project risk avoiding/minimising financial exposure whilst managing Project Reporting throughout the life cycle of the project on an open, no surprises basis

Control of Project Close Out and determination of close out strategy

Maintain a proficient, ethical and cooperative approach with Client, Contractors and Team Members


Understands and effectively applies the Company Quality, Health Safety & Environmental Policies and procedures as well as Business Operating Procedures throughout a project

Fully grasps all project management challenges and effectively utilizes project management tools and techniques

Holds broad commercial awareness with exposure to negotiation techniques and financial management

Understands and can interpret P&L reporting

Critically evaluates technical and contractual information

Possesses high level understanding of project risk and the varied risk management processes and techniques that can be adopted

Protects and develops strong client relationships with clear and effective communication

Adapts to any change throughout the life cycle of a project. Controls change as it happens

Qualifications & Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

HNC in technical Engineering subject

Membership with a relevant institution (e.g. I. Mech. E.)

Preferred Experience:

Delivery of projects with successful adherence to health, safety & environmental targets in a highly regulated industry.

3 + years experience as a Project Manager. Will have delivered on a number of industry related projects across a range of sectors and customers.

Advantage to have 2D/3D CAD capability

A proven track record in successfully executing multi-disciplined projects from inception through to completion.

Significant time spent in the negotiation and control of external equipment, services suppliers and contractors.

Proven man-management experience of successfully managing multi disciplined teams in a technical engineering environment.

Consistent achievement/improvement of project financial targets.
