A primary SEN school in Lambeth is recruiting an experienced HLTA to work across the key stages starting September 2019. This post is full time and will continue until July 2020 via the agency.

The school caters for students aged 2-11 with an ECHP for PMLD, Autism and complex needs. They have a strong academic focus, however are equally keen to promote positive wellbeing and mindfulness.

The selected applicant will have previous SEN experience, especially with PMLD and complex needs. As well as working across the school, supporting in class, there will be number of additional responsibilities. Additional responsibilities will include one full day of teaching, assisting with staffing, organising feeding rotas and recording pupil's progress.

Children are grouped based on age, however there will be varying abilities, with some students being non-verbal, therefore experience with PECs and Makaton is desirable. There will also be personal care involved, so manual handling training is required. As well as supporting students academically, you will focus on well-being and social skills. Successful applicants are caring, calm and pro-active with a keen interest to progress in SEN.

Key skills and experience needed:
  • Experience supporting children with PMLD and complex needs
  • Previous support work within a school or other child related experience
  • HLTA qualification or experience within the role
  • One to one and small group work
  • Professional manor
  • Enthusiasm and friendly approach
