Summary
These are exciting and challenging times for the National Trust. We are moving forward with our strategy to restore a healthy, beautiful, natural environment, offer experiences that move, teach and inspire, and look after our places, gardens and collections. The South West has an important role to play in delivering this work. As a Business Support Coordinator, you will be providing the excellent administrative help that the team of regional marketing, communication and external policy specialists need.
What it's like to work here
Killerton is a Georgian house set in 2,600 hectares (6,400 acres) of working farmland, woods, parkland, cottages and orchards. Killerton is also one of the offices used by the National Trust Consultancy. This is the home to specialists in every field of our work, where we collaborate across disciplines and boundaries to support our property teams and places. It is a busy working environment, with people in and out of the office regularly. You'll be a master of balancing demands on your time, and actively look out for ways where you can make the team's work easier. You'll work confidently without close supervision and prioritise your work cleverly.
What you'll be doing
You are part of the administrative community in the office, playing a regular role in keeping the office running smoothly. You will support marketing colleagues as they create and evaluate seasonal campaigns and update the website. You'll be part of the social media rota, replying and engaging with followers. You'll be the first contact for properties as they work to tight deadlines for our major annual publication, the National Trust Handbook. The job also supports our networks of design suppliers and photographers. This involves regular communication with them and keeping track of a lot of detail in a readily understandable format. You'll work on the SW staff newsletter, publish and update content on our staff intranet and organise large regional staff events. You'll look after us all in terms of core admin needs, such as organising meetings, arranging travel and raising purchase orders.

The role will be office-based hours, mainly in the Killerton regional office near Exeter. Working days are generally in the week, but some out of hours working may be required to cover special events.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for exceptional administrative support. You'll have a proven depth of administrative experience, have consistently good attention to detail and be highly organised. You'll have a flair for customer service. You will need to be able to write well, to communicate effectively with groups of staff, and to contribute content for everything from the website to the staff newsletter. A curiosity about the Trust's work and a positive, confident 'can-do' attitude are essential. In order to be successful you'll need:
  • Relevant experience in a business support environment (including advanced IT skills in Microsoft Office) and an interest in working within a marketing environment
  • Ability to use online systems effectively and confidently. Familiarity with SharePoint
  • Experience of helping to deliver staff events
  • The ability to work from your own initiative and show you think around the task and complete it in the fullest sense.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well organised and attentive to detail
  • Confidence and experience of working on social media in a business environment
  • Strong customer service skills
