Reporting to the Director of Purchasing, the Senior Purchasing Manager is responsible for the management of the operational purchasing in Ireland, Italy, Malta & Tunisia). You will be responsible for managing the operational purchasing teams (9 heads) located in the manufacturing plants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Management of purchasing teams in the manufacturing plants in the area of responsibility; ensuring annual objectives are clearly set, monitoring progress to objectives and driving talent management for the organization.
  • Facilitate development, ensure communication and deployment of global and regional sourcing agreements throughout Baxter. This process will require sufficient buy-in from the main stakeholders (businesses & functions).
  • Develop annual value improvement programs and implement strategies that directly impact company financial results and growth plans
  • Management of the critical supplier relationships in alignment with the global category managers.
  • Responsible for the identification of improvement projects across the direct spend categories
  • Work with suppliers to improve current performance and develop new opportunities
  • Communicate and engage senior management on opportunities with suppliers. Secure necessary buy-in for the sourcing projects
  • Coordinate and support projects with category managers
  • Develop annual improvement objectives based on identified opportunities
  • Ensure appropriate communication with key stakeholders to update on key purchasing projects as well as ensuring compliance to purchasing's rules of engagement
  • Staff and develop a high performing and motivated procurement team
  • Implement new technology for procurement
  • Solve day-to-day operational issues.
  • Effectively communicate in a timely manner any potential supply or demand issues that would have a negative impact on Baxter's service or operations.
  • To direct and facilitate the resolution of major issues at suppliers sites
  • To take the lead in creating/documenting and reviewing processes and implementing both tactical and strategic changes to improve operations
  • Coordinate the activities related to the Value Improvement Programs
  • Responsible for PPV (Purchase Price Variance) for all direct materials
  • Provides guidelines and leadership to the Purchasing Department in matters of cost reduction and optimization, supplier selection, win-win negotiations with a long term vision, supplier relationship management (SRM), contracts management, KPIs, risk management, continuous improvement, buying procedures and policies for Direct and Indirect Materials and Services.
  • Set and lead PSM meetings with stakeholders to update the organization on PSM progress, contribution, challenges, KPIs, critical projects, cost reduction and process improvement, discuss ideas and initiatives.

  • Degree level qualified or equivalent
  • Experience managing remote teams or the ability to do so
  • Experience managing multiple cultures or the ability to do so
  • Able to adapt to change
  • At least 5 years experience in a supply chain role at senior/management level
  • Able to work under strict deadlines
  • The ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Able to deal with and challenge ambiguity
