A large national automation product distributor is looking to expand its Technical Sales function by recruiting an External Sales Engineer. The role will see increase spend on various Automation products through the development of new and existing business. The ideal candidate will have previous external sales experience and have come from an Electronic/Factory Automation background.

Commutable from: Glasgow, Motherwell, East Kilbride

Salary: Up to £ 35,000 p.a. + Bonus (5k) + Company Car + Private Medical + Pension + 25 days Holiday

The Role
  • The Sales Engineer will carry out effective territory planning in order to maximise customer contact, proactive telephone canvassing

and a call rate of 16 customer visits per week is expected, reported weekly and accurately.
  • New trading account generation.
  • Conduct sales calls in a professional manner, ensuring that customers needs are explored

extensively. Utilisation of Product Specialists and other company resources to add value is an
absolute expectation.
  • Ensure that all business systems and CRM sales reporting requirements are updated accurately and on a weekly basis.
  • Presenting to various audiences on a range of subjects, including the companys value proposition,

product demonstrations, services and commercial overviews.
  • Remain customer focused with a can-do attitude at all times.
  • Take charge of your personal development and contribute to the evaluation of performance in line

with company's core competencies and learning and development framework.
  • Observe Health & Safety policy and procedures

The Person
  • To carry out the Sales Engineer role you will need a solid education with GSCEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Ideally you will be qualified to at least ONC level in electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of companys procedures and processes
  • The ability and determination to finish projects and take tasks through to their natural conclusion.
  • Good day to day planning capabilities are an essential for satisfactory performance
  • Technical interests, specialist skills and experience are important for long term success
  • Good knowledge of electrical control product gained within a sales environment would be

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work comfortably at Director level.
