Our client is part of a diversified international group, a leading manufacturer of specialist nonwoven textiles with a long-established reputation in its' markets as a pioneer in technical, solutions-led products. The business is firmly positioned as a manufacturer of added value in technical nonwovens and is able to offer a unique set of technical skills, knowledge and experience which allows often complex product requirements to be met effectively. Having restructured as part of a strategic review, the business is now very well positioned to take advantage of identified opportunities in its' chosen markets.

A key role in the delivery of the planned growth is the appointment of a first-class manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the engineering & maintenance team at their site in NW England. As engineering #1, reporting to the Plant Manager, you will oversee all engineering operations of the plant including all mechanical and electrical maintenance. You will be an experienced manufacturing engineering professional with relevant experience of managing teams delivering operational needs. You will increase plant effectiveness and equipment uptime and review maintenance capacity to identify and deliver improvements. A capable and versatile people manager, you will lead your team in fulfilling its key role in delivering the plant's business plan. Package:Excellent package inc. negotiable salary up to £50k, plus bonus & benefits

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organise, direct and run optimum day-to-day engineering operations to meet plan requirements
  • Be responsible for all maintenance activities, including all site facilities
  • Recommend and implement all TPM activities as agreed with the Plant Manager
  • Cost effectively manage spares inventory and supplier relationships, inc. sub-contractors
  • Lead the engineering team, including recruitment and professional development
  • Maintain the highest level of commitment to plant engineering processes and practices
  • Manage the engineering budget, identifying and justifying required spend

Candidate Profile Requirements:
  • Excellent leader with mechanical/electrical engineering background in relevant manufacturing settings
  • Takes ownership & self-reliant, able to take full responsibility for the engineering requirements as 'No. #1'
  • Comfortable in fast-moving continuous process manufacturing, inc. specialised process equipment
  • TPM & RCM approach to maintenance, improving uptime and seeking opportunities for improvements
  • Knowledge of PLC's and other control systems
  • Technical textiles experience a plus but not essential
  • 'Hands-on' and highly visible, collaborative approach and leads by example
