Gloucestershire Professional Services (GPS) is recruiting for a Deputy Head of Teaching, Learning and Improvement to join the Teaching and Learning department at Gloucestershire College.

The role of the Deputy Head of Teaching, Learning and Improvement will include:
  • Proactively promoting, developing and implementing the College's strategy to enable all teaching/training staff to achieve a minimum of 'good' teaching grades and work with teachers and managers throughout the College and partners to improve teaching standards
  • Supporting the implementation of the Learner Observation Policy
  • Providing assurance to management and the board that the out of county training provision is of good quality and not risking the reputation of the college with Awarding bodies, ESFA, OFSTED and relevant bodies in devolved areas
  • Reporting on outcomes and the effectiveness of subsequent action plans
  • Managing and delivering training and development activities, including
    delivery on teacher training programmes as required
  • Formally observing staff and partners as part of the annual observation process and undertake supportive observations, as part of the quality improvement strategy

Skills and Experience:
  • Track record of good or outstanding/ positive teaching and learning observations
  • Good understanding of IV, IQA, standardisation and moderation processes
  • Experience of supporting and/or coaching others to improve standards
  • Experience of undertaking graded and supportive teaching and learning observations
  • A proven record of raising students' retention and achievement rates
  • Commitment to sharing good practice and innovation in teaching and learning
  • Experience of embedding equality and diversity and safeguarding practices
  • Experience of delivering training to teaching staff
  • Experience of using ProObserve (or similar), Promonitor, E-portfolios and VLEs
  • Evidence of effective and relevant continuous professional development
  • Cert Ed/PGCE/DTLLS
  • Possession of relevant professional, vocational or academic qualifications
  • IT literate
  • Subject specific degree or relevant teaching/ training experience
