14.8 hours per week (0.4 contracts), Permanent

About the role

An exciting opportunity for an inspirational Counselling tutor to join our innovative department of Health and Social Care. We require an aspirational and motivated individual with a passion for the Counselling Industry willing to pass on their expertise to learners and prepare them for employment.

Counselling is a growing area for the Department of Health and social care. In this role, you will play a key part in contributing to the further development of this area. This will include all programmes from Level 2 to L4 and future developments within Higher Education. You will work with students to ensure they achieve their best, and will also build excellent relationships with industry to further raise the profile of the area in the community. This job will involve regular evening work so flexibility is essential.

You will be responsible for the success of students and providing an enriched curriculum. This will include recruitment, providing advice and guidance to students on their progression routes, and developing industry links that provide them with enrichment and work experience. You will track and monitor student progress to ensure timely completion and achievement.

You will play an important role in providing pre and on-course guidance that supports learners through to successful outcomes. You will, therefore, undertake activities which will include course management and organisation, learner interviews and enrolment, and other marketing and public relations activities associated with the programmes you will be managing. This may include liaison with parents and guardians, schools, industry, the community and other organisations to identify requirements, promote the College and recruit learners to your programmes.

? -Coordinate and lead on the delivery of programmes within a curriculum area ensuring the successful retention, achievement and progression of all learners

? Support the Curriculum Manager with line management of staff that teach and/or support on the programmes you lead. This will include carrying out personal development reviews.

? Teach and assess on a range of courses and learning programmes, appropriate to your skills and qualifications. You will undertake all necessary planning, preparation and assessment to ensure excellent teaching and learning occurs.

? Undertake the necessary administrative tasks associated with your role, which include learner registration, attendance, record keeping, tracking, and reporting.

? You will be expected to meet normal demands of an Academic Calendar including the production of Schemes of Work, planning for lessons and meeting Quality and awarding body requirements.

? Prepare students for higher levels of study (including HE) and vitally for the world of work, developing specific vocational work and employability skills through the curriculum, and by using external/internal links.

Have you got what it takes?

You will hold a relevant specialist qualification at degree level or above, along with a teaching qualification. You will have the ability to deliver quality teaching, learning and assessment experiences across a range of levels in Further Education. You will need to be passionate and engaging with the ability to bring the subject matter to life and make it a positive experience with a wide variety of learners. You will need to be a team player, with excellent interpersonal skills, working closely with vocational staff and management, in line with raising the profile of Counselling within the curriculum area.
