Reed Education are excited to be working with a specialist Autism Unit in Somerset.
The school are looking for 3 Teaching Assistants to join them on a full time basis from September, initially until Christmas with the potential to continue after. Successful candidates will have experience in supporting students with Severe Autism across KS3 and KS4.

You will be working 1:1 with students with severe autism as well as in small group situations supporting the class teacher. There will be a mixture of classroom based and outreach activities.

The School:

• Specialised SEN centre who cater for children between 8-16 years old with severe Autism who have been referred from mainstream environments.
• Small classroom sizes ranging from 2-6 pupils per class
• Holds a very supportive staff team who have excellent communication between themselves, pupils, parents/carers and other external parties

The Role:
• Assisting the classroom teacher in smooth curriculum delivery to students (either on a one to one basis or in small groups)
• To try and keep children engaged and motivated to take part in their education
• To ensure the pupils are safe and away from harm within their learning environment
• Be active and inspiring to the children by embracing learning outdoors

What you will need:

• Experience in working with children with Autism particularly those with severe needs
• A patient and calm personality with strong behaviour management skills
• A passion for supporting children throughout their education in times of their crisis
• Experience with students in Year 7-9 is preferred, but not essential
