Salary from £46,000 (Chesterfield) / £51,000 (London) with a potential bonus of 18%, a £3,500 car allowance as cash, healthcare options and 27.5 days annual leave. Please note, all salary and benefits are per annum pro rata.

The Head of Finance Ledgers & Assets leads a small team of finance specialists and is responsible for the effective processing of financial transactions including general ledger & asset accounting through the co-ordination and control of activities necessary to ensure both financial accounting and fixed assets for RMG adheres to Group policy and Statutory/Regulatory requirements.

The role is also accountable for the definition and deployment of appropriate processes to deliver Group financial accounting policies (including fixed assets) with the flexibility to respond to changes in approach and processes required to support a business facing commercial challenges, through building strong relationships with key business stakeholders and the RMG external auditors.

Please note, this is a Fixed Term Contract role with an end date of Friday 20th December 2019.

About the role

You will hold responsibility for ensuring production of financial accounts which are materially accurate and to critical timescales required to make decisions for board reporting, including tight control over the inter-business and fixed asset processes. You will also direct the completion of accounting schedules for all Business Units which form the body of, and notes to, the Report and Accounts.

By establishing and maintaining positive and productive relationships with key business stakeholders and Group Finance, you will be a valuable asset to the team and will provide independent challenge where appropriate. You will manage the relationship with the external auditors for controls audit, year-end statutory audit and any enquiries arising.

Key will be ensuring the integrity and probity of the general ledgers and asset modules through the implementation and design of appropriate processes and controls which minimise risk. You will also assist in an ongoing project to review the current control framework within the business.

About you

A professional accountancy qualification is a requirement in this role.

Your influencing skills will be excellent and you must be capable of influencing a wide range of people across the organisation. Alongside this, you will have strong communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to interact with colleagues and customers at all levels.

Your ability to exercise judgement based on incomplete, inadequate or incorrect information in order to meet reporting deadlines is key in this role and will be reinforced by your thorough understanding of financial accounting principles.

You will be an excellent leader, with the ability to motivate staff to produce excellent results. By continuously identifying efficiency improvements, you will achieve targeted cost reduction. Additionally, you will work well under pressure, which will be essential at the financial year end.
