About the role:

We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Payroll Assistant to join our HR/Payroll team to provide a first class pay service to Liberty Steel and assist with the day to day activities of the Payroll function.

You will be responsible for the day to day management of the weekly and monthly payrolls.

You will be passionate about payroll and have the desire to drive performance to make it the most efficient and effective as possible and to really add value to the employee's experience of the payroll and benefits process.

The key responsibilities will be to calculate process and reconcile the Liberty Steel payrolls, ensuring all compliance, establish controls, approvals and audit controls and be responsible for all internal and statutory reporting.

This position requires an individual who understands the necessity for confidentiality and professionalism at all times and is able to deliver in a fast-paced, demanding environment with the ability to adapt to change.

To be successful within this role you will ideally be:
  • Working towards or CIPP qualified or equivalent experience;
  • Expert knowledge of all current PAYE and beneftis legislation
  • Numerate, organised and administratively strong
  • Have the ability to manage an end to end payroll process
  • Have demonstrable experience of delivering continuous improvement;
  • Excellent IT skills - Excel, Word, Payroll Systems
  • Strong audit and compliance knowledge

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • To calculate and process payrolls for Liberty Steels Newport with the support of the HR/payroll team
  • To assist the payroll team to process all payrolls when required
  • To maintain pay related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation
  • Effectively manage weekly tasks to reflect the priorities of the payroll cycles
  • To be responsible for the statutory reporting provisions making sure all returns are submitted within statutory deadlines and ensuring processes are as efficient as possible
  • To assist with PAYE compliance within the HR function
  • To provide support in reward cyclical processes, such as annual pay review, bonus process, Group Risk renewals
