The Coal Authority has an exciting opportunity for a Mining Consultant & Information Manager to join the team based in Mansfield. You will join us on a full time, 2 year fixed term contract and in return, you will receive a salary of £30,797 - £42,792 per annum depending on experience.

The role:

The role would ideally suit a mining, mineral estates manager or geotechnical professional who enjoys being part of a diverse organisation delivering innovative solutions.

This is a 2 year fixed term contract with the potential to extend.

As our Mining Consultant & Information Manager you will be:

- Using Geographical Information System (GIS) to interpret the digital mining information

- Interpreting mine abandonment and other historical plans & records to manage and maintain accuracy of mining information

- Providing effective customer service and supporting the wider internal business as an expert mining consultant

- Managing the information asset across the business

- Improving systems, processes and the development of products to aid the industrial strategy of the UK

- Ensuring the business satisfies its statutory, legal and GDPR obligations

- Acting as a point of contact for all information needs

- Implementing the strategy, policy and procedures to provide accurate, complete and timely information services to all

- Providing a professional point of contact for and on behalf of the Authority in relation to these activities

- Ensuring the Authority satisfies its statutory obligations in the provision of information to our customers

- Implementing strategy, policy and procedures, providing accurate information services to all stakeholders

- Supporting the development of a commercial and non-commercial provision of information and services

- Influence strategy and decision making for the department with the Principal Manager

- Ensuring the business information needs are provided and developed to maximise business benefits

- Providing the information technical support of any developments of ICT systems

Our ideal Mining Consultant & Information Manager will have:

- Degree or equivalent mining or geotechnical qualification or be able to demonstrate relevant experience at desirable level

- Professional membership of the RICS (Minerals and Waste Management Faculty), or suitably applicable professional body

- Information Management qualification or related experience

- Experience of using information in a GIS application; IT systems development and testing

- Experience of working with customers, stakeholders and the general public

- Experience in mining, minerals or geotechnical engineering or information management

- Experience interpreting mining related plans and records

- Experience interpreting 3D ground models, site investigations and geological records

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Excellent customer service skills
