The Role

You will be responsible for the setting the businesses complete strategic approach to purchasing including rationalising the supplier base, analysing the annual spend, sourcing and assessing new suppliers, as well as liaising with the internal engineering and wider teams. You will also be analysing and improving returns as well as ensuring the correct parts and engineered systems are purchased from reading engineering drawings. You will also be responsible for stock levels and routings. Ultimately you will be accountable for growing and developing the whole purchasing department.

The Person
  • Experienced Purchasing Manager with CIPS qualification
  • Experienced working in engineering businesses where you are dealing with nuts and bolts through to high value engineering components
  • Ability to approach purchasing in a strategic (rather than transactional) manner.
  • You also need a hands on can-do attitude, excellent communication skills and an ability to organise, plan and prioritise core tasks.
  • Liaising with and improving suppliers, purchasing high volume as well as high value engineered items.
  • You will have a proven track record in managing a £multi-million spend and developing other people in the team.
