On behalf of a successful accountancy practice in North London, we are recruiting for an Accounts & Audit Senior to join the busy and expanding team. This exciting opportunity has arisen because of a period of continuing growth for the firm.

The role will focus mainly on accounts and tax work, with the audit element being minimal. Applicants will have worked at a similar level within a similar role, with strong accounts, audit and technical skills.

Providing a first-class service to designated clients, and working alongside the Manager, the Accounts & Audit Senior will have the following responsibilities:
  • Completing financial reporting assignments for larger accounts jobs, preparing financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Preparation of draft business tax computations
  • Liaising with client managers as well as working directly with clients
  • Working directly with and under the tutelage of experienced professional partners
  • Planning and completing a diverse range of assignments
  • Supervising more junior members of the audit team and accounts staff
  • Leading, planning and completing statutory audits from inception to completion to a high standard, including specialist audits, pensions, solicitors and charities with minimal supervision, to deadlines and within budget
  • Reviewing and managing the work done by a small team of audit juniors, concluding findings before review by the Audit Partner
  • Working within client offices for prolonged periods to complete audit files, ensuring all required information is available
  • Develop good working relationships with existing and potential clients

The ideal candidate will satisfy the following:
  • ACA / ACCA qualified - an exceptional part-qualified or QBE applicant would be considered
  • Be a commercially aware accountant with at least two years' post qualified experience gained within a practice environment
  • Have experience in leading audits including auditing groups of companies, regulated clients and be able to identify audit risks
  • Experience in producing management accounts, VAT returns, corporation tax computations and self-assessment tax returns
  • Be IT literate, preferably with a good understanding and practical knowledge of IRIS Accounts Production, IRIS Business Tax, Sage accounting packages and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills and able to prioritise time and meet deadlines
  • Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills - being able to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Experience of supervising and training of junior members of staff is desirable
  • Be ambitious and self-motivated with the desire to develop professionally
