A project planner works with project management in the planning and tracking of time and costs for a project. A project planner also works with proposal writers to estimate the costs of new projects.


  • Work with proposal writers in the estimation and planning of new project costs based on current task costs and projections of new task costs.
  • Work with clients and project management to establish project costs.
  • Track project costs during the project and identify future tracking to budget.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties shall include but not be limited to the following:
  • Development and maintenance of the project scheduling and planning for the 2 main development projects.
  • This work will be in direct support of the project managers.
  • A weekly update for management reviews will be expected in the form of a PowerPoint Timeline in conjunction with the relevant project manager. This will reflect the project schedules.
  • Maintenance of critical paths with the project resources, directing and managing task prioritisation where possible.
  • Operating across all functional areas to meet project contractual objectives.
  • Support to Non-Technical Requirements and Milestone registers to maintain currency against project timelines.
  • Support the Head of Programmes with developing longer term process and procedures for the effective running of a programme management office planning and scheduling requirements.
  • Support in maintaining planning of forecast demand for projects and eventually across the Programmes departmental projects.
  • Support schedules for future prospects and bid work.
  • Help to establish a method/process for the display of now/next tasks/deliverables/milestones through electronic means and GEMBA boards as required.
  • Support the programmes team with establishing priorities for all projects allocated.
  • Supporting PMs and the contract manager with sub-contract plans and schedules, specifically focusing on integration with project schedules and plans.



A candidate must be able to clearly show the following skills:
  • Project time and cost tracking and analysis - the ability to enter time and cost data for each project and analyse compared to established budget.
  • Organization - the ability to understand and assist in the planning of tasks for new projects.
  • Data collection and analysis-the ability to organize data and analyse the data for current and future projects with knowledge and experience of Earned Value Management techniques.
  • Communication - the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and regularly with team members, client representatives, and Evergreen management.
  • Interpersonal - the ability to develop a good working relationship with each team member


A candidate must be able to clearly show the following skills:
  • Develop and define project goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyse project effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative tools.
  • Recommend and implement modifications to improve effectiveness and attain project milestones.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor activities of assigned projects to develop and implement procedures, processes and systems.
  • Educate employees in methods to ensure project continuity and completeness.
  • Develop detailed task lists and work effort assessment through the development of Work Breakdown Schedules and Network Charts.
  • Oversee schedules and risk management plans and provide serious deviations warnings hindering project results.
  • Identify changes in work scope in the project plan.
  • Ensure to take appropriate planning measures with all clients to reassess, renegotiate and amend scope of work responsibilities, proposals, contracts and budgets.
  • Prepare and present regular internal and external project reports for management.
  • Evaluate and analyse with team risks and issues compromising project results and develop plans to mitigate them.
  • Lead development of baseline schedule and support Project Manager (PM) in Integrated Baseline Review (IBR).
A candidate must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the successful planning of projects


A candidate must have as a minimum experience using the following:

Microsoft Office Excel.

Microsoft Project.

Primavera or similar scheduling tool.
Contracted Hours: Full Time - 38 Hours Per Week
Standard Office Hours:Monday to Thursday 8.5 Hours, 30 Minutes for Lunch Fridays, 4 hours (Half Day, No Break)
